I am gonna guess about 50ft +. I was using my APO 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 with a doubler. Not sure the focal length. I need to get better at writing it down.
I was photographing Blue Heron when I came upon this guy in the viewfinder. It turned out rather well for the most part. It was handheld as I forgot my quick rig for my tripod--left it on my other camera. The Heron, well though I got one while it was eating some sort of rodent. Check back tomorrow when I have it posted.
